Dear Parents, Grandparents, Benefactors and Friends of SHGS

They keep saying that autumn is here, but I am not sure we can believe it as of yet. We are struggling with this heat. Students and staff keep telling me they are ready for it to cool off and I continue to pray for it to do just that. Well over the weekend it finally happened.

This letter is coming to all of you to ask something special of each of you. We are working on community, school and parish service. That means we have to work on a united front with our students. It seems that they are really starting to see the good that they do. Here is my request of you… help us unite them in color. What that means is we would really like to see all of our students in red shirts on Friday.

When asked why they do not wear their shirts the common answer is “I didn’t know it was Friday." This tradition was started many years ago and we would like all your help with our keeping it going. Please have your student wear either a school shirt or a plain red shirt on Fridays.

Other Items of Interest:

We are going to be kicking off the selling of tickets to the Dueling Pianos on October the 1st. This is the Fall Fundraiser for the Home & School. Please consider purchasing a ticket or even a table. The tickets can be purchased on a payment plan if you would like to do so. Please contact our Home and School officers, or Kelli Hansen and Shanna Ganoung. (Thank you in advance for help in this project.)

Father has completed server training with all of the older classes, grades 4-6. They are doing a great job adjusting to the changes and seem to enjoy the new way of serving the Lord in Mass.

We have had a grandparent’s day lunch. We served nearly 100 extras that day. The students really enjoyed singing and serving cake to their family. If your family was not able to be a part of the lunch please make a special time with grandparents to visit the school and have lunch. We take reservations, they can be called into the office. Our students love to have visitors sit with them for lunch.

We will be having a Fall Festival/Halloween Party in the gym for students K-6 on October 31, 2016 from 2:45 – 3:30. We will be having games and other activities. We can always use help from not only class captains, but other parents who may be available.

Please remember that we will celebrate All Saints Day Nov. 1, 2016 and All Souls Day Nov. 2, 2016 right after All Hallow’s Eve. Each of these days reminds us of the opportunity we have to be in Heaven with Christ at the end of this life on Earth.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Foss
