Roger Lee Mongeau passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 70. He was born on July 28, 1947 in Hays to the late Severin “Joe” and Leah June (Conn) Mongeau. He grew up in the Zurich, Kansas area and graduated from Palco High School in Palco, Kansas with the Class of 1965. On July 2, 1966 he was united in marriage to Kirby Simpson at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Zurich. They were blessed with three daughters, Raina, Tara, and Dara.

Herman Mick

Herman Joseph Mick passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas at the age of 93. He was born on May 5, 1924 in Tipton, Kansas to the late Theodore and Mary (Gasper) Mick. He grew up on the family farm, the youngest of twelve children, and by the age of 12 was already hard at work helping to take care of the farm. In November, 1943 he joined the United States Navy serving as Motor Machinist’s Mate, Third Class, aboard the USS Libra (ADA-12) during World War II.

Michael N. Sinclair

Michael N. “Mike” Sinclair, 67, Plainville, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Rooks County Health Center after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He was born November 30, 1949 in Springfield, Minnesota the son of Dean N. and Patricia (McCormack) Sinclair.  He graduated from Wabasso High School and entered the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged in 1974 with the rank of Sergeant.

Mary Ruth (Toelkes) Buchheister was born December 7, 1920, in Plainville, Kansas, to Mamie (Zabolio) and Phillip Toelkes, the third of five children. She died on June 7, 2015, in Green Valley, Arizona, at the age of 94.  Mary Ruth lived on the family farm and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Grade School, before graduating from Plainville High School in 1937.   Funeral Services will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 am on August 5, 2017 in Plainville, Kansas.

Thomas “Tom” Lynn Norris passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 as the result of a motorcycle accident near Oakley, Kansas at the age of 72. He was born on October 10, 1944 in Springfield, Illinois to the late Edward and Marguerite (Miner) Norris. He grew up in the Springfield area graduating from Griffin High School with the Class of 1962. After high school he joined the United States Air Force where he worked as a jet engine technician and retiring after more than 20 years of service.
